I believe many people believe nothing will happen “to us” until it happens. There are two types of people. The ones who have a mindset of preferring to be safe not sorry or deal with it when it comes. My grandma was in London during WW2 bombing, just lost her husband and had 3 kids who she had to split up and send to relatives in the country. They had rations, gardens, used everything and she was working as a servant at the time. My step grandad served in WW2 tanks and never discussed it. War is horrific. My dad served in Vietnam. My husband is a veteran. I never prepared for anything until Ukraine was invaded. My heart sunk. I feel it coming. Pray and prepare.

The frustrating thing is is that most friends and family I talk to about this just goes in one ear and out the other. They’re just not ready to give this any thought or serious consideration.
