Under his watch, the AEC granted the first commercial license to the Nuclear Materials and Equipment Corporation (NUMEC) to produce weapons-grade uranium. JFK’s Assassination: The Nuclear Connection Nobody Talks About
The saga of NUMEC and the missing uranium intertwined with the highest levels of government. In 1960, President Eisenhower requested information from Israel regarding their nuclear weapons program. This inquiry marked the beginning of a series of presidential interventions. In May 1961, President John F. Kennedy met with Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and requested an inspection of the Dimona nuclear facility, located in the Negev Desert. The facility, shrouded in secrecy, was believed to be the heart of Israel’s nuclear ambitions.
The diplomatic tension escalated when, in May 1963, JFK demanded that American inspectors be allowed to examine Dimona. This bold stance by Kennedy underscored the growing concerns within the U.S. government about nuclear proliferation and the potential diversion of nuclear materials. Tragically, just months later, in November 1963, Kennedy was assassinated, leaving many to speculate whether his hardline approach towards Israel’s nuclear program played a role in his untimely demise.
